In response to the recent killings in the United States and the systemic racism the events and reactions highlighted, the multinational technology company IBM is taking action to ensure technology is used appropriately and productively to deal with racial inequality, beginning with an internal Call for Code Emb(race) Spot Challenge for IBM and Red Hat employees.

Within the challenge, IBM and Red Hat employees will partner up and work together in unified teams to work on technology that can help address racial injustice and inequality. The technology and solutions that come out of this will in turn be shared with governmental organizations, companies and individuals to build on said solutions and be inspired to create new ones.

As IBM states, ‘We’re living in unprecedented times, and that calls for unprecedented action. We must lead by example, model behaviors and continue to strive for inclusion, equality and justice for all.’

At CSR Europe we want to continue fostering this new way of thinking and acting. For this reason, after calling for an overarching sustainable Europe 2030 strategy, we are now inviting businesses, industry federations and policymakers across Europe to develop and implement the ambitious European Pact for Sustainable Industry.

How? By incubating collaborations to develop practical and scalable solutions under the umbrella of the European Pact for Sustainable Industry.
